Obituary

Betty J. Henry Lerch, 88, of Hummelstown, passed away Monday, November 11, 2019, at her home.

Born in Hummelstown on September 21, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Gladys Henry Arnold wife of the late Joseph Arnold.

Betty had worked for the former Verdelli Farms and Gladstone Lollipop Factory, and was a cafeteria worker at the Lower Dauphin High School, all of Hummelstown. She was a 1950 graduate of the former Hummelstown High School. Betty was a member of the First Church of God, Middletown; and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 265, Hummelstown. She enjoyed playing Bingo, doing crossword puzzles, and traveling. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, however, most important to Betty was spending time with her family.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin J. Lerch, Sr., on November 5, 2011; by a grandson, Marlin J. “P.J.” Lerch, III; and two great granddaughters, Sofia DeLeon and Chloe Lerch.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Barbara A. Seibert wife of Scott of Middletown, and Patricia D. Olinger wife of Roger of Hummelstown; three sons, Marlin J. “Pork” Lerch, Jr. of Hershey, Joseph M. Lerch of Hummelstown, and Douglas W. Lerch husband of Connie of Harrisburg; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with Pastor Matthew Saxinger of Susquehanna Valley Church, Harrisburg, officiating. Interment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery. Friends are invited to the viewings in the funeral home Tuesday, November 19, 2019, from 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday from 10 AM until time of the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033.
