Obituary

Brian K. Baxter, 61, of Hershey, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019, in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center.

Born in Harrisburg on March 25, 1958, he was the son of Meral F. and Lois I. Gutshall Baxter.

Brian was an IT Infrastructure Analyst having 39 years of service with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. He was a 1976 graduate of Lower Dauphin High School, and studied Computer Technology at Point Park College, Pittsburgh. Brian was a member of the Mechanicsburg Men’s Club and the Hershey Italian Lodge. He loved sports especially Hershey Bears Hockey and Penn State Football. An admirer of nature, he adopted a wolf, Little Joe, from the Wolf Sanctuary of PA in Lititz.

In addition to his parents, Brian is survived by a sister, Barbara A. Baxter of Linglestown.

A private service will be held by the family with The Rev. John A. Schaefer, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery.

Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Wolf Sanctuary of PA, 465 Speedwell Forge Road, Lititz PA 17543-9537.

I worked with Brian at Highmark in Computer Systems. He was such a funny guy, a little goofy, but easy to kid and joke with. We had a nickname for him which I fondly remember "Brainiac". He was so well liked by everyone and will be missed.
