Obituary for Harry Earl Straw Jr.

Harry E. Straw, Jr., 76, of Hummelstown, passed away Monday, September 9, 2019, at his home with his family by his side.
Born in Harrisburg on December 19, 1942, he was the son of the late Harry E. Sr., and Helen Bateman Straw.

Harry retired from the ITT Corporation where he was an Inventory Control Manager. After retirement he worked in the warehouse of Sherwin Williams. Harry was a 1960 graduate of Central Dauphin High School. He was a member of the Fuzzy Few, Hummelstown, and former coach of their FFO, Inc. Bulldog Football Team; and a former baseball coach for the Hummelstown Baseball Association. He was an avid fisherman and hunter; and enjoyed traveling. More than anything, Harry truly loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alva M. Yankey Straw, whom he married on August 11, 1963; four sons, Jeffrey R. Straw husband of Donna, Harry R. Strawser husband of Paula, and Timothy W. Straw husband of Beth, all of Hummelstown, and Randy A. Straw husband of Dr. Helen Gold of Harrisburg; ten grandchildren, Brittany, Adrienne, Kassandra, Nathaniel, Kolbe, Rachel, Mackenzie, Bryanna, Caleb and Katelyn; three great grandchildren, Kason, Tori and Elijah; one sister, Janet Hockenberry wife of Lester of Florida; and one nephew, Lester Hockenberry, Jr. of Harrisburg.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Homeland at Home, Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
