Obituary for Marvin Victor Brown Jr.

Marvin Victor Brown, Jr., 87, of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, and formerly of Hershey, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019, in the home.

Born in Harrisburg on March 31, 1932, he was the son of the late Marvin Victor Brown, Sr., and Gladys J. Beachley Young.

Marvin retired as Chief Executive Officer of the former Zetor Tractor, Harrisburg, was a former General Manager of International Harvester, and the former owner of Heritage International, Ephrata. He was a 1950 graduate of Susquehanna High School, and 1954 graduate of Dickinson College, Carlisle. Marvin was a member of the Church of the Redeemer United Church of Christ, Hershey, where he served as President of the church’s Consistory. He was also a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and its Hershey Region; and enjoyed playing Bridge.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Yvonne Runkle Brown, whom he married on June 19, 1954; one daughter, Carolyn L. Kline wife of Rodney of York; one son, Marvin Victor Brown, III, husband of Martha A. of Mechanicsburg; and three grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Haley Kline, and Michael Brown.

A service to celebrate Marvin’s life will be held Thursday, April 25, 2019, at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Anna L. Thompson officiating. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Redeemer United Church of Christ, 500 West Chocolate Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033.
