Obituary

Priscilla B. Schwenk of Hershey, passed away at age 77 on January 2, 2019.
She was born Priscilla Decamp Brush on December 4, 1941 in Burlington, New Jersey, where she spent her childhood years. Priscilla first arrived in central PA when she attended Lebanon Valley College, graduating in 1963. While at LVC, Priscilla earned her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, and also met her eventual husband of 55 years, Dennis P. Schwenk. The couple was married on June 1, 1963, and set down roots in the Hershey area. Priscilla immediately embarked on a teaching career that, while interrupted to raise her two sons Timothy S. Schwenk and Jeremy S. Schwenk, would go on to span 25 years across the Lower Dauphin and Harrisburg school districts.
Priscilla was also a lover of animals large and small. In her younger years she owned and exhibited Tennessee Walking Horses. Later, her interests turned from equine to canine as she became a respected breeder and exhibitor of Kerry Blue Terriers. She was a fixture on the AKC show circuit for decades, competing in both obedience and conformation categories finishing numerous champions. At the local level, she served on the board and as President of the Harrisburg Kennel Club. In addition to family, career, and recreational pursuits, Priscilla still found time for faith and fellowship as an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Although she leaves us too soon, Priscilla will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful friend. Along with her immediate family, she is also survived by her sister Cynthia Wiggins, and grandson Andrew M. Schwenk.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Priscilla’s name to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 212 Cocoa Ave., Hershey PA, 17033 are welcome and appreciated.
A memorial service will be held on January 11, 2019, 11:00 AM, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 206 Cocoa Ave., Hershey, PA 17033.
