Rhoda R. Hancock Hoffner, 70, of Middletown, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018, in the UPMC Community General Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Born in Chambersburg on October 28, 1948, she was the daughter of Alice R. Leedy Schaffer of Middletown, and the late Emerson L. Hancock.
Rhoda retired as a foundry worker for the former Grinnell Corporation. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Unit 1620 of Middletown. Besides enjoying her daily Turkey Hill Slushies, nothing meant more to Rhoda then being with her family. A devoted mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, Rhoda’s world centered around spending time with those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John J. Hoffner, Sr., on September 22, 2011; one brother, William L. Hancock; her stepfather, Howard Schaffer; and two stepsons.
In addition to her mother, Rhoda is survived by two sons, Donald L. Fisler husband of Dorrie of Dover, and Rodney W. Mozingo and his companion, Heather Matesich of Hummelstown; one daughter, Debra K. Batula wife of Stephen of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Linda J. Jumper of Middletown, and Judy A. Briggs of Palmyra; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; three stepsons; and one stepdaughter.
A celebration of Rhoda’s life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2018, from 12:00 noon to 3 PM at the Hummelstown Fire Hall, 249 East Main Street, Hummelstown.
