Stephen R. Barto, 64, of Hummelstown, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019, in the M. S. Hershey Medical Center with his loving wife by his side. A true warrior, Steve fought his lengthy illness with determination, strength and dignity.

Born in Hershey on August 26, 1955, he was the son of the late Richard R. and Emily J. Roberts Barto.

Steve retired as a Foreman for the Hershey Company. He was a 1973 graduate of the Hershey High School; and had attended Harrisburg Area Community College. Steve was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hummelstown. A devoted family man, Steve found great pleasure in fishing and boating with his grandchildren, watching them play sports, and going out to eat with his family. He loved traveling to Las Vegas with his wife; riding his Harley Davidson especially when going to Bike Week in Ocean City, Maryland; and going to yard sales on Saturday mornings. An avid hockey fan and season ticket holder, Steve enjoyed going to Hershey Bears games.

Steve is survived by the love of his life and wife of 43 years, Connie A. Watts Barto, whom he married on December 13, 1975; two daughters, Megan Barto-Betz of Hershey, and Melissa Hallman wife of C.J. of Hummelstown; four grandchildren, Brenden Betz, Dylan Betz, Sophia Hallman and Braxton Hallman; a sister, Diana Anspach wife of Joseph of Grantville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Laudermilch.

Kazinski, his pastor, officiating. Friends are invited to the visit with the family Friday in the church’s narthex from 9:30 AM until time of the service.
